How Do I Fill Out My Set Time Preferences?

One of the first things that you should do when you finish your eContract for a show is to fill out your ‘Set Time Preferences’. That way you don’t run the risk of forgetting to do this later in the booking process.

It is also very important fill out your set time preferences because once you get 20 tickets sold your booking rep will need to know what time slot to lock you in to. If they are not filled out then you run the risk of getting a time slot that you do not want.

Setting Your Preferences

NOTE: Since you are not able to drag and drop on most cell phones you may need to use a computer to successfully fill these out.

  • Once you have finished picking your set time preferences you are good to go. No need to hit confirm or anything. It will automatically save your preferences.

Tips

  • If you are not able to successfully fill them out make sure to email your booking rep and let them know what set time preferences that you prefer. That way they can update them in your account notes.
  • Please remeber that just because you fill these out it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to play at that time. It is also dependent on what time slots are left when you reach the agreed upon amount of tickets sold.

Timeslot Disclaimer

LOCKED TIME SLOT DISCLAIMER

As soon as an act has 20 Tickets sold their Booking Rep can lock in their approximate time slot.

IF YOUR TIME SLOT HAS BEEN LOCKED IN:

1. Please be on time for artist check-in. If you arrive late it could potentially void this pre-arranged time slot.

2. DISCLAIMER: Your locked time slot is an approximate time. Live concerts have many moving parts. Times can possibly shift if an act before you plays a shorter set, cancels, or has an emergency. Various factors can potentially make the show run behind or ahead of schedule.

3. We advise against leaving the venue after you arrive for artist check-in because if the show is ahead of schedule you may end up missing your time slot. If you do choose to leave the venue, make sure you are back inside the venue 1-2 hours prior to your scheduled time slot.

WHAT TO TELL FANS

If You Have a Locked Time Slot:

Please tell your Fans to arrive 1-2 hours before the time you’re scheduled to perform, (unless you are the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd act of the night). Do not tell Fans that this is an exact time. We don’t want Fans to ever miss your set if something happens that puts the show ahead of schedule.

If You Don’t Have a Locked Time Slot Yet:

Let your Fans know that as soon as you have 20 Tickets sold we will lock in your approximate time slot. Then you can notify Fans of what time you take the stage.

This is how we set time slots for unsigned artists: https://myafton.com/help/when-will-i-know-my-timeslot/

When Will I Know My Time Slot?

This is our policy for unsigned artists: Once you’re confirmed on an Afton show, your Booking Rep can lock in your timeslot as soon as you’ve sold 20 advance Tickets, based upon the timeslot preferences you set in your account.

You can set your timeslot preferences, in priority order, from your www.MyAfton.com account. Go to your Confirmed Dashboard, click “Time Slot Preferences,” and drag and drop the times in your preferred choice order. We do everything we can to ensure you get the best time slot for your show.

Why aren’t Time Slots Set 30 Days in Advance?

This is for several reasons.

  1. Afton was founded on principles of fairness. Artists who sell the most Tickets deserve to get seniority in picking their preferred time slots. We reward acts that sell 20 advance Tickets soonest, and they get the first pick of time slots. No politics, no playing favorites, the best time slots are earned by effective promotion.
  2. Artists that sell 0 or few advance Tickets are most likely to cancel, not show up, or flake out. If we lock in all time slots 30 days out, we have to essentially redo the times and shift everyone around last minute, day of show, when those 0 or low sellers don’t show up or cancel. Then that changes the higher sellers’ originally locked time slots and their fans could miss their set. We AVOID all of this by locking in timeslots as soon as an act has sold 20 advance Tickets.

EXAMPLES:

If an act sells 20 Tickets 60 days prior to the show, they’ll be rewarded for early promotion efforts with a locked-in time slot 60 days out.

If an artist doesn’t sell 20 Tickets until 5 days prior to the show, they’ll get to pick their choice of time slot from whatever is still left at that time, 5 days prior to the show.

Artists that sell all of their Tickets day of show, last minute, OR acts that sell few Tickets and don’t abide by their end of the eContract agreement will find out their timeslot at check-in, day of show.

Seniority will be given to the higher selling artists to pick the timeslot they want from whatever times are available. So the lowest Ticket sellers will get last pick of the time slots nobody else wanted.

If two artists for the same show have the same time preferences, the artist who validates or sells 20 tickets first gets the first preference and the other artist will get second preference (assuming it is still available).

Need to Play Early or Later in the Night?

If you need to play earlier in the night, or have a drinking crowd that prefers you play later in the night, let your booking rep know NOW so that we can try to set that up for you. And make sure to set those times in your time slot preferences in your MyAfton.com account. We can usually help setup some sort of time frame in advance if you need us to.

Don’t Think You Can Sell 20 Advance Tickets?

We believe almost any local artist can easily sell 20 advance Tickets if they use the right strategies. CLICK HERE FOR TIPS

Set Lengths

Longer set lengths are awarded to higher advance ticket sellers when it is pre-arranged with the booking rep. If an artist fails to sell the number of advance tickets agreed upon in their E-Contract, that artist will get a shorter set based on advance sales as follows, by genre:
