WHY IS A MISSION STATEMENT IMPORTANT?
There are more businesses in the world than ever before. So as a consumer entering 2020, it’s more important than ever before to pay attention to the core values of any company you choose to engage with. In today’s economy, where you spend your money and time are one of the biggest influences you have in society! At Afton Shows, operating with ethical and fair business practices has been a cornerstone of our business model and how we operate since day 1. We have always committed to uphold moral norms and provide clarity and fairness in an Industry plagued with unethical standards. Every musician knows all too well how brutal and shady our industry can be.
It’s unfortunate, because that’s created such a tumultuous working relationship between artist and venue, promoter and booking agent, artist and record label. I recently read a quote that puts this into perspective.
“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs… There’s also a negative side.” – Hunter Thompson
We believe there is a better way to do business
Afton was founded by musicians, for musicians. We experienced firsthand that there was a void in what the local show scene was offering in 2004. Because of this, our staff has always looked at booking shows through the lens of an artist.
Our mission statement is simple, and artist focused: Afton… opening the door, providing the tools, giving encouragement and hope in the music industry.
Here’s what is most important to us and how we strive to run our business:
In an industry that says you can’t, we are here to say you can!
We hope to open the door to all types of show opportunities and gain artists exposure in their city.
We offer transparency and do what we say we will.
If a mistake is made, we make it right!
We strive to build a local artist community.
We help you cultivate skills and confidence in yourself, that bring value to your music career.
We offer promotional resources and tools with our Online Booking Platform and MyAfton Blog.
We are here to encourage and support artists, every artist has value and potential!
We create a culture of acceptance and fairness, every genre has a place in the world.
The music industry is HARD, let’s stick together and build each other up. You will not find elitism here!
So as we venture into the NEW YEAR, let’s continue to work together to bring fairness and transparency to the music industry. 2020 is going to be the best year yet!
