Recently, artists of all sizes have ramped up their free livestream performances on Facebook for donations only. But what if you could design a unique, special, and interactive LiveStream performance that you could sell virtual pay-per-view tickets for? How much more money could artists be making to help support their music career if they used their marketing skills and existing fan base for a pay-per-view LiveStream plus tips/donations?

This is the big question the Afton Shows and MyAfton founders, Ryan Kintz and Amy Kintz, asked themselves when COVID-19 hit in mid-march.

“Suddenly, within 3 days, all of the 250+ music venues we work with started contacting us to say, “our state is forcing our venue to cancel all live concerts for 2 months or longer due to COVID-19. We had to reschedule almost 200 shows,” recounts Amy Kintz.

In addition, there are serious ongoing talks that live events could NOT come back until December of 2020. With major concerts/tours postponed into 2021. Or even worse, a 2nd or 3rd wave of COVID-19 outbreaks when concerts resume that forces live event industry to shut down again.

So how can independent bands and rappers support themselves financially while staying connected with fans? How can artists satisfy the innate desire to perform live and share their music with the world?

We believe the MyAfton LiveStream platform is the answer.

MyAfton LiveStream Offers the Highest Artist Payout.

We made the decision to give a lion’s share of the revenues back to the artist for LiveStream.

MyAfton LiveStream offers artists 70% to 90% of LiveStream revenues, plus artists keep tips and donations after the card processing fee. It is our goal that the higher payout tiers are easily reached by the local acts we book.

With the starting MyAfton LiveStream payout tier at 70% (a majority of the revenue to artist), it only takes 20-34 virtual tickets sold for a 75% payout, 35-49 virtual tickets sold for an 80% payout, 50-74 virtual tickets sold for 85%, and the top tier of 90% comes in at 75+ sold. This means the average local artist’s fan base can easily make that artist 75% to 85% of revenues (the artist picks the ticket price).

This is great news for independent musicians, considering that other platforms such as Twitch are taking 50% of revenues, and the starting payout tier for Stageit is only 63%.

However, to reach even the next payout tier on Stageit of 70%, an artist has to sell $1,000 worth of tickets, breaking down to either 100 tickets at $10, or 200 tickets at $5 – which is out of reach for many local musicians.

Wait, So What’s the “Catch?”

There is no catch. Sign up to the MyAfton.com platform is completely free, membership is free, and it’s free for artists to setup and create their LiveStream performances.

For LiveStream, there are no ticket requirements. An artist can choose to reschedule their LiveStream at anytime if needed. We even provide 1-on-1 support with a Booking Rep, promo tips and strategies, and marketing advice to help our artists succeed.

How Does it Work?

Once you have a free MyAfton account and have setup your Artist Profile, you simply click the Create LiveStream Gig link from inside your account.

You set the date and time for the LiveStream and you set the virtual ticket price.

We handle all encoding, bandwidth, the technology, the virtual ticket sales platform, your sound check portal, and provide you with a dashboard to track your sales.

When it’s time to LiveStream, you login for the final sound check and go live. During your performance you can live chat with fans.

How Much Money Can I Make?

Let’s use a few examples. Remember, the more virtual tickets you sell, the more Fan Tips you’re going to get. Historically, we see that Fans tip generously during online checkout for our live shows. Plus, with LiveStream Fans can tip/donate during your performance.

Artist takes home $88.20 + Tips

Local act sells 50 virtual tickets at $6.99
Artist takes home $297.07 + Tips

Local act markets their LiveStream like crazy and sells 110 virtual tickets at $5.99 each.

MyAfton Beat Store Background

One of my personal favorite sections on the MyAfton website is our beat store. Where we have a huge list of beats and beat packages for sale! We originally teamed up with a producer (Rookie Beats) and purchased a hand full of beats from them to make available for artists in our store.

Shortly afterwards we found that our artists loved the idea of having a beats available for them. Because of that we started teaming up with other beat makers/producers and it snowballed from there.

Fast forward to today, where we have over 55 beats in our store. Some of which are available in beat packages for a smaller price. Which is great for those that want to buy in bulk!

Our Producers

As of now we are working with 5 different producers from around the United States. ‘Rookie Beats’ (Who produced songs for E-40, Roddy Ricch, Nipsey Hussle, and Andre Nickatina) has about 40 beats available.

The other producers that we work with our ‘Thousand Times’, ‘Mr5torm Beatz’, ‘Jr Nadox’ and ‘Handome Jack The Producer’. Each producer brings a different flavor of beats to the store.

Two of our most popular items in the MyAfton Store are our ‘Featured Blog Article’ and our ‘Featured Album Review’! Today I will be walking you through how both of these items work so that you have a little more info about them going into the purchase process.

Featured Blog Post

The first product that we will go over is the ‘Featured Blog Post’. When an artist orders one of these it is our goal to get as much info as we can about the artist so that we can share it with our readers. It a fun way for them to get to know the artist and their music.

We start off by reaching out to the artist and catering some of our questions to fit them as an artist. In turn, we usually get a ton of info about how they got started as an artist, what inspires them musically and also we get some fun stories about them along the way.

It is very important for us to gather the artists social media and music links as well. That way our readers can give their music a listen while they read or look up all their songs after they learn more about the artists.

The last thing that we gather from the artist is 1-2 images that they would like to share with the world. That way the reader knows exactly who they are reading about and it helps the reader to also get to know the artists style.

So What Do They Look Like?

One of our most popular Featured Blog Articles would have to be our article about JessieTheGoat who was actually one of the headliners for our Afton Summer Mixtape.

Featured Album Review

The second item is the ‘Featured Album Review’. This is mainly for artists that have a new album coming out that they want to promote. Though some artists purchase this to promote a past album that they want to get more exposure for as well.

This process is a little bit different than the featured blog post. The only information that we ask for from the artist is a little background information and their social media links. That way the article is more focused on the artists album rather than themselves as an artist.

Once the artist sends over the links to the album I listen to the album from front to back and review it. I go over the album as a whole, but also break down my favorite tracks on the album as well as what I think are the general standout tracks.

What Does The Finished Product Look Like?

One of our most popular Album Reviews would have to be from the artist Kreative. He is a Hip Hop artist from Chicago and we reviewed his album titled ‘Longanimity’ (See below).

MyAfton Promo Options

We offer a ton of free promotional benchmarks for artists. If you have not seen them you can click HERE to see what they are, but we also offer a lot of paid promo options that are located in the MyAfton store.

The First Three Options

The first three options are very similar but the key difference between each of them is the social media platform that they are posted on. Each promo blast requires a little bit of info from you so we can make the post more customized to your music and preferences.

First, we ask for your social media handle or link so that we can tag you in post. That way whenever someone sees the post they are able to find your account and listen to your music or learn more about you as an artist. The second is that we ask for a message that you want us to post for you. An example would be: “Be sure to keep an eye our for the next artist to rise! Artist X from New York City. You can listen to their music over on soundcloud.com/artistx”

Then we ask for an image that you want added to your post. That way potential fans can see a little bit more about your personality and what you are about. Afton then adds some #Hashtags that we have researched and found to be very useful for artist growth (For Instagram blasts). Below are some examples of three of our promo blasts.

The final option of promo blast that we have available in our store is Youtube Blast. This option is one of our most popular options because it is permanently on our Youtube page.

We ask for the artist to send us their artist name, the song name (That is played in the video) and the video file, so that we can it posted to our page. Another option for the artist to send additional links to their social media pages, music links and other accounts that they want displayed on the video. You can see an example below:

Print Store

One of the best things that comes with a free MyAfton membership is access to the MyAfton print store! We offer tons of different sizes at Warehouse prices!

From our store you can create a flyer for a show that you are booking through us (Afton) OR you can create a flyer for any shows that you are booking outside of Afton. Below we will go through steps on how to create both kinds of Flyers.

For both kinds of Flyers you will need to have created an account with us. If you have not already done that you can head HERE to create one. Once you have done that you can follow the below instructions on how to create them.

Non-Afton Flyer

First you will want to go to the MyAfton Store and click Create new, Flyer (8×11), Poster (11×17) or Hand Bill (4.25×5.5). Then just click on ‘Non-Afton Show’. After filling out all of the specific venue/show info and hitting next you will be prompted to either chose an image from our gallery OR upload your own image.

Customizing Your Flyer

From this screen you can edit the color of three different sections of your flyer and also add the text that you want to appear on the Flyer.

Once you are finished editing the flyer the way that you want it, just click the ‘Preview & Submit’ button. The final step is to chose how many of the flyers that you want to order and then hit ‘Add to Cart’.

This process is very similar to the Non- Afton Show, you will want to go to the MyAfton Store and click Create new, Flyer (8×11), Poster (11×17) or Hand Bill (4.25×5.5). The main difference is that you will of course click ‘Afton Show’ and then select the Afton show that you would like to make a Flyer for.

On the next screen you will find that all of the show info is automatically inputed on the flyer so that you do not have to enter it in.

Once you have edited the flyer the way that you want it just hit the ‘Preview & Submit’ button. You then just choose the amount of Flyers that you want to purchase and hit add to Cart.

Free Options

If you are on an Afton event and on a budget you can even download the finished product as a file that you can print yourself from home. If you want to choose this option just make sure to click the “Download Now” button as seen below.

Third Option

The third option that we have for customers is the “Not Date or Venue Specific”. This means that instead of adding all of the show info to the flyer you can upload a Flyer file that is already finished (with all the show info). With this option you can also purchase them and have us print and ship them to you.

Different Sizes

In our store we have three main sizes to choose from: Flyer, Poster and Hand Bill. The regular 8×11 (flyer) is our most popular size as it is an industry standard size. Or we have an 11×17 (poster) size which is our biggest option. Our last option is called a hand bill which is 4.25×5.5. They are perfect for artists that want to hand something out to their fans.

When this option is chosen we use an in house professional cutter to cut the 4 handbills. That way once you get them they are ready to be handed out to fans.

Once you are signed up with a membership account you can then receive emails from us which will often have promo codes to use. Usually the promo codes range anywhere from 10% off up to 50% off. Once you are signed up be on the lookout for some awesome deals!
