We are happy to announce that we are in the process of adding new perks to our website to help incentivize artists and also reward them for their promotion efforts on their show!

We already have a HUGE list of perks that we have available on our site like, being added to BandsInTown, a free Facebook impression ad, social posts, and even refunds for promotional items when sales benchmarks are hit.

The New Perks

We are excited to add a wide range of new perks to our site. In the beginning these perks will be listed here in this blog article. but eventually we will get them added to the page that we linked to above.

Post Your Flier

If you are able to get 10 tickets sold within the first week of being booked for a show all you need to do is, make sure that you have a flier created in your account (click HERE for tips with that), then just email your booking rep with the image of the flier and let them know that you reached the 10 ticket limit within your first week. We will then get the Flier posted to our social media. We will also make sure to post the link to your ticketing page for some extra sales!

Headliner Sales Status: Pre Show

For this perk we use your online ticket sales link as the main link when we create our Facebook event for the show. For these Facebook events we put all of the show information for fans to see in the event description, as well as the venue as co host (if they gave us that info), we list all of the main artists on the show, and lastly we post the online sales link for the top selling artist so far. This is great because if you are one of the artists that has gotten sales in advance then we use your ticket link as the main sales link for the show. That means that any fan that comes across the event on Facebook and buys tickets they will be brought your sales page and you will get credit for their purchase.

Branch Out Your Account

For this perk when an artist gets 30 or more tickets sold on their show we give them the ability to branch out their account to other cities. This means that originally your account may only be setup to receive show offers in one city (Say Austin Texas), but once you unlock this feature you can have another city like San Antonio added to your account for more show offers. So once you sell 30 or more tickets sold on a show just let your booking rep know of another city that you have a draw in (can bring fans to a show in) and they can add that city to your account and let you know the new cities booking rep to contact for shows.

Free Mixtape Submission

For any show that we book the top 3 selling artists will receive a free mixtape submission from our store. As a company we put out 2-3 mixtapes a year for artists to have their songs featured on. Usually we put out a Summer, Fall and Winter mixtape. Artists are able to purchase a mixtape submission from our store HERE. Now we are making the mixtape submissions available for free for the top 3 selling artists on a show. If you hit that top three mark, please make sure to let your booking rep know so they can get you in touch with our Mixtape team.

Artists To Watch

This next perk is given to all the top sellers on our shows over the weekend. So there is not a set number of tickets that need to be sold for the show. It is just being part of the top sellers for the show. For this perk you actually don’t need to do anything to initiate it. Our staff will reach out to all of the top sellers on the shows from the past weekend to request the needed info. However because we push these ‘Artists To Watch’ articles just about every week we will need to quickly receive the requested info in order to make you a part of the blog. So if you think you are a high seller on your show that you booked then please be ready to send over the info needed in a timely manner.

Headliner Sales Status: Post Show

There are many things that make up a good headliner for a show, but we want make sure that artists get the recognition that they deserve when they sell/promote like a headliner does. So any artist that gets 60+ tickets sold on any Afton shows that they are booked for will receive a free Featured Blog Article from our store.

In order to receive this all you need to do is, get 60 tickets sold for your show, then email your booking rep to let them know and they will get you in touch with our staff member that posts the blog articles on our blog. Then, they will reach out to you to receive the needed info for the post.

We are very excited to get to work on these new perks and hopefully artists will like them! If you have any questions about the perks please reach out to your booking rep so they can help answer them and when in doubt just remember anytime you think you met the criteria to receive one or all of these perks make sure you check with your booking rep so that it doesn’t fall the cracks and we are able to get you the perk[s] that you deserve.

MyAfton Emerging Artist KRI$ WOOD$: Hey my name is KRI$ WOOD$ I am 21 years old I was born I San Francisco CA, but I’m from San Rafael CA. As a kid I always loved music so as a little boy I played the trumpet and drums throughout middle school and beginning of high school, but then in my junior year of college I recorded my first song at my friends house who was a rapper and kinda up there so as I saw the way he did his music I wanted to do my music but different and better to the ear.

I started rapping and then later on to singing after I got down the vocals, I wanted to be an engineer so I studied my engineers that I would work with and they would give me some lesson as I would have the session s/o to Jaybndz,Yani,WokeupTMRW,and Don Caprice couldn’t have done it without you guys love y’all and inspired by y’all.

When did you start playing music and what inspired you to give it a try?

What first inspired me in music was the G.O.A.T himself TUPAC Shakur and my Big Brother Arnold he was always into music he played the guitar, drums, bass, piano, and then became an Amazing DJ and that’s what keeps me going seeing that we can make something beautiful or fire to the ears together.

What artist would you say that you sound most like? Or have been compared to?

The artist I would say I sound like is Pop Smoke, Polo G, and I’ve been compared to Big Sean, Tyga, and A boogie wit da hoodie.

What’s one of the craziest things that has happened since you became a musician/artist?

One of the craziest things that happened to me being an artist is that people actually recognized me or heard of me and ones that I have actually met and didn’t know that it was me and have a great reaction it’s really the best feeling to have and the one time where I was opening up for Da boii, slimmy B, Mbnel, and Icewear vezzo and outside the club there was a bad shooting with aks and dracos and bodies.

Do you have any pre-show rituals before taking the stage? What do you do after a show?

My ritual before I hit the stage is a Lil sesh wit the boyz and meditation then it’s GO timeand then after we go to the after party or hit the studio right after.

What advice would you give to a young artist just starting out?

If your a yougin starting out to the rap game just know that there are vultures out there with no emotions ready to take your money so just watch who you make your business with and never forget that it’s ok to take the little steps to your journey because if you leap forward you can and will not backtrack those steps ever again so just have fun and please just be you and stay true to what you do.

Do you have a new song or a new album coming out? If so, when is it being released?

I did just drop an album called “Wrld Of Independence” on October but I will be dropping a Few new songs next month like Cold ft. OD951, Sneaky Link ft. OD951, and a single NFOB (No Friends Only Brothas) stayed tuned for more and new Music Videos coming soon.

Music Promotion 101

In this article we will be going over some simple but very important promotional tips for either promoting your music or promoting an up coming concert.

Build a Website and Email List

Though in the age of social media and having a social media presence it is crucial for artists to have a website. This can be used for a general hub to list all your social media accounts in one place. You can also have a calendar that lists your upcoming shows as well.

Another good use for a website is to list your merchandise on there. (If you need any help with setting up a merch store we have you covered CLICK HERE to find out more info). Sometimes when artists here about a website they say “but how much would that be?”. Now a days there are so many options for building a website and quite a few of them are free! With a simple google search you can find a ton of great options for this.

On your website you can also have a “Join My Email List” button. This is such an effective way to get in touch with your fans! After all most artist are not going to have each of their fans phone numbers so email is usually the next best option. A lot of the same information can be posted on social media but a lot of social media platforms have limitations. For instance on Instagram you cannot post links until you have 10K followers. So it is important to take the time to built both an Email list and a website.

Get On Playlists

Playlists on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify are quickly gaining popularity and is becoming a great way to gain new fans! Some even say streaming services are the new record stores because of how effective they are for spreading new music.

There are a ton of way that you can submit your music to popular playlists or even start your own and build a community with other artists from being in the same playlist as them. But first you will need to make sure and setup an account on the various streaming platforms. That is step one before you are even able to submit to certain playlists or even add your music on the platforms.

Creating Content on Social Media

There are so many social media platforms to choose from to get your content out there, but Tik Tok is quickly becoming one of the biggest social media platforms out there. Which is great for artists because it is a video platform, so you can post music video snippets with audio from your song in the videos.

Other platforms like Youtube are also great for this because you can post full videos. So it is perfect for getting people hooked on your music from Tik Tok and then sending them over to your Youtube to listen to the full song. A lot of artists use YouTube for Album release parties as well.

With social media the possibilities are truly endless for getting your content out there to the world. Just remember if you have a website setup to always put the link to it in your social media account. That way fans can make their way to your website and they can find everything in one place.

Reach Out To Local Radio Station, Blogs and Podcasts

One of the main things that artists learn in their career is that they need to grind in order to make it. Sometimes it takes that extra little bit of energy to get in a festival to get your song on the radio or to get invited on a tour.

Local radio stations are a great place to start. Google local stations around you and don’t be afraid to reach out via phone or email. Try to get them to play your music and if they say no then keep trying. This same method should be used for podcasts and blogs. Continue to reach out and don’t take no for an answer. The first time you reach out they may say no because they have not heard of you but maybe by the next time you reach out it is after you played some shows and they might say “yeah I caught your show last month, lets make this happen!”

If you need some motivation just think of how artists did it back in the day vs how many different platforms are available now for artists. Music On Our Radar

For July we have decided to continue our On Our Radar segment where we highlight new music from up and coming artists. Our hope is to create a space for artists to help grow their fanbase by sharing new music that they put out. For July we have found a lot of up and coming artists from our June shows around the country.

In this articles we will take time to showcase a number of artists new music, whether that be a new single, EP or even an album.

Album Review: Easter Party

Daja Beloved Artist Background:

Deja Beloved is an up and coming artist, CEO and mother from the Nashville area. Today we will be doing an album review of Easter Party. Get to know more about her album and her as an artist as we dive into her fabulous vocals.

Album Review Easter Party:

The new album starts of with the track ‘Vibes’. Saying the track starts hard would be an understatement. The beat is heavy but subtle and goes perfectly with the lyrics through out the versus. Then the chorus hits and brings the track to a new level. The second track on the album ‘Higher Conscience’ starts out a little bit softer than the previous track with a bit of an R&B fail. It shows of some great vocals from Deja and will surely get stuck in your head with such a catchy chorus.

The third track on the album ‘Let Down’ takes a completely different approach than the previous tracks and it starts out with a guitar melody. It then morphs into a perfect mix of both acoustic and pop. Deja definitely knows her way around a hook as she shows off the softer side of her vocals. The fourth track on the album titled ‘Sleep In It’ brings back the beat in the best way. This track even has some vocals that are quite reminiscent of a Ariana Grande track. This track is a perfect closer for the first half of the album.

Second Half Of Easter Party

The Fifth track on the album ‘Better’ starts of with a very strong beat that resonates in and out of the track. The beat works well without getting to busy and her vocals are lined up perfectly with the tempo of this track on another R&B smash. The sixth track on the album is titled ‘Secrets’ and for good reason. The beat on this track is almost like a secret with how subtle it is through out the song. It works for this track because it pushes the vocals through to the front of the track and really helps them to shine through out the song.

The final and closing track of the is titled ‘Sleep in it again’ and is clearly a call back to the fourth track on the album. It starts off with a similar tempo to the fourth track but is different enough in all the best ways. It has some backing vocals that are slowed down through out the back of the track that tie in nicely with the leading vocals from Deja. It is a perfect closer to a very solid album from Deja Beloved.

Myafton emerging artist SuperStar: Justice Richardson, aka SuperStar. 33 Greenville, SC, Hip Hop artist but also plays the drums. I grew up in the church playing the drums, & around 9 my brother introduced me to hip hop & I fell in love with it. As life would progress it would give me a lot to write about & so I did & began to put it in songs.

8 Questions With SuperStar

Who and what inspires you the most to keep going?

My wife & my kids. I want to be able to live them a legacy of not just a monetary inheritance but an inheritance of what it means to live your dreams wide awake.

Have you played a show with Afton before? If so, what things did you enjoy about playing with Afton?

Yes, I have. I appreciated the fact that it brought me in front of a new crowd.

Where do you see yourself in 3 years?

I aim to be in position to live off my music & clothing merch.

If you could play show with any artist or band, living or dead, who would it be? Why?

Jay-Z, he has been my biggest influence in hip hop since I started listening to it.

What’s one of the craziest things that has happened since you became a musician/artist?

I forgot the lyrics to one of my songs in the middle of my set & had to start freestyling.

Do you have any pre-show rituals before taking the stage? What do you do after a show?

No pre-show rituals & after most shows its just time to eat. Lol.

What advice would you give to a young artist just starting out?

Be the you, you know you are. Believe it or not people are looking for something original.

What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned as an artist?

Remain humble, & do it for the love & everything else will into place.

I’m a new artist that goes by FGP Qaysta (Qayshawn Bolen )I’m 26 years old born March 28th 1995 raised in Los Angele CA but grow up in Lancaster CA so I’m putting on for The 661 I started rapping and making songs when I was a kid . I took it to to next level 8 years ago with my brother with an old desk top and stage mic. We didn’t know what we was doing all we knew was download a Recording software, record then we dropped a few raw songs on YouTube. Then a few years went by I wasn’t taking music serious At all in 2015 I started a music group / camp Called ‘Free Gang Posse’ I started with me and one other person as time go by I humble myself until 2018 I dropped another song on YouTube and from there I been working non stop. Bunch of new music 2021 be ready Because here comes Da Real Baby Goat, I’m up Next

Album Review Rockstar Lifestyle:

The brand new track from FGPQaysta drops on May 22nd on all platforms!

The song starts off hard with a short instruction and then dives right into things. The song has an obvious hook that will keep people singing for hours. the versus are equally has powerful as they help the song move forward through out. Some of the best parts of the song have to be the background sounds though. They add so much character to the song that helps give the song a personality.

The chorus has quite the anthem that I can only imagine would be a smash at a live concert. “I love that lifestyle (swag), The rockstar lifestyle (swag)” sounds in and out over the beat. The beat in the song is simple but it works because the lyrics, rapping and over all sound of the song have so much character so a massive beat just isn’t needed for this song. Over all the song is great and I very much look forward to its release in on May 22nd.
