This Months Review

We are very happy to bring to you our Afton artist album review of Graham Crackers & Applesauce by Caloe. We recommend this album to anyone that is looking for a new Hip Hop EP to listen to.

Caloe

Caloe is an up and coming Hip Hop artist from Tampa Florida. This 20 year old artist brings words to the picnic table he crafts. This grouping of songs displays the artist’s charisma and reason why his fans love him.

Graham Crackers & Applesauce

Starting off with the album art it really helps paint an obscure picture for what is to come with the EP Graham Crackers & Applesauce.

This EP starts of strong with the track ‘Pause’. It is produced by ProLee93 and definitely has some lines to remember along with many great references. It even has a reference to the artist Avril Lavigne as well as a great Simon and Garfunkel line: “Simon and Garfunkel made me Pancakes, I wanted Waffles”.

Track number two is a well places interlude that is straight out of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.

The 3rd track on the EP is titled ‘Fles’ which is produced by Hood2Handle. The slow production flows very well with the quick lyrics in this track. Right of the bat Caloe starts off with a bang spitting lyric after lyric in this track. Just like the first track it is full of great references “Skrillex” and even “Jaws”. My favorite line in the song would have to be. “Stole the Heart of Brie Larson got charged with Larceny it’s very hard to speak.”

The Second Half

Track 4 is another well places interlude titled ‘Intro (Clutter)’.

Track 5 titled ‘Disparage’ which is produced by CHill. The production (like track 2) fits very well with the lyrics that Caloe is throwing out on this track. The chorus is very simple ( I’m upset that I’m so obsessed with everything 2x) but works very well with his complex lyrics in the versus. My favorite line in this track would have to be: “You have my emotions swimming like Ryan Lochte, I’m locked, trapped in travesty no one understands me.”

Overall this was a great EP that left me wanting a little bit more. It was full of strong production and ever stronger lyrics that pack a punch. I am excited to see the next album from Caloe.

Cold Sirens

This album starts off strong with the track “unfabulous’ which is actually quite fabulous and starts the album off with some interesting progressions. The second track dives in with some great leading Synths and is quickly followed by some groovy Guitar sounds through out the rest of the track.

The third track on the album “If You Don’t Love Me” starts of with the first vocals on the album: “I’ve got no love for you B***h” and quickly picks up the tempo of the album with some awesome Guitar riffs. The fourth track “A Fire Inside” changes the layout of the previous songs and sticks to a more vocal heavy track and it works! The 5th track on the record is a short intermission into the second half of the album and has some fun vocals on it.

The second half of the album starts off with “The Good Lady, Pt 2. Which seems to be a sequel to a song on the bands previous album titled ‘Oakland’. ‘Pain and Glory’ is the next track on the record that brings back the vocals on the album in a great way. It would also be a really fun live track to see them perform!

The 9th Track on the album ‘Sweet Emotion’ uses some great samples and starts off with an awesome vocoder effect. The track is very strong through out and ends with an epic Guitar solo. It is my personal favorite on the album as well. The closing track on the album ‘Blonde Haired Jane’ is the perfect closer to an album. It gradually picks up the tempo through out and ads some more awesome vocal affects. The album comes to an end with the final words “That’s it, yep yep.”

This Months Review

We are very happy to bring to you our album review of The Difference 2 by Big Nic. This one we recommend to anyone looking for some fun new Hip Hop. This is our second review for Big Nic so I am extra excited about this one.

Big Nic

My name is Nicholas Nash and I come from Little Rock, Arkansas. The city is already rough but I come from one of the roughest parts of the city. I don’t let this bring me down though, i actually use this a hard motivation to make it out of where I came from. I’ve always been into music, remixing songs I would hear on the radio in my journal. I didn’t record my first song until the 9th grade with some friends in the library. Ever since then I’ve tried my hardest to make music that others can enjoy. I have always had to work to get mine, I didn’t have my first pair of Jordan’s until 9th grade. I bought them(as well as the rest of my clothes and shoes) by selling chips. 

The Difference 2

This album starts off with a punch with the title track ‘The difference3’. Where Big Nic shouts out with his familiar catch phrase ‘Yadigg’. The track is filled with some funny references including one about R Kelly. The second track ‘Nic Cage’ has the first feature on the album brought to you by Tremor J. The third track on the album ‘Dnob’ (which is actually on our Winter Mixtape) was added to this album as a remix instead of the original version. It has some cool new affects as well as a new feature.

The 4th track on the album ‘Nic Cannon’ is full of some great references and is carried by a catchy hook! Big nic definitely has a way with catchy hooks without over using audio effects. The 5th track is a great transition to the second half of the album that is made into an entertaining skit. Which leads us into the 6th track titled ‘Nic Nac’. It has an awesome instrumental that drives the song through out. It also bring listeners another catchy chorus on the album.

The 7th track which includes another feature ( BG Nimani ) is titled ‘Nicole’. It leads with a bit of a dream wave feeling beat and some fun vocals! The 8th track on the album has some samples from Nic Fury straight out of the MCU. The beat in this track is simple but it lets the lyrics come through in a great way for the song.

The final two tracks on the album ‘Nic Jr’ and ‘The Difference 4’ are great closers for the album. With ‘Nic Jr’ slowing things down a bit and picking things back up again to end the album with ‘The Difference 4’.

We are very happy to bring to you our Afton artist album review of Lil N*** Big Dreams 2 by Aceman. This one we highly recommend to any listener that is looking for some new music to check out!

Aceman

AceMan was born in Rock Hill, SC and grew up all around the Carolinas & is currently based in Charlotte, NC. He’s spent the last 7 years slowly perfecting his craft, while trying to blossom from the tough Carolina soil that has produced very few stars. Lil n**** BIG Dreams 2 is his 2nd full length project.

Lil N*** Big Dreams 2 Album Review

This album starts off with a bang with the track ‘Back on My BS’ as Ace man lays the ground work for the rest of the album. With the second track ‘I Live For This’ Ace definitely creates an anthem for his listeners. It flows right into the next song on the album ‘Pistol Party’, which has one of the catchiest choruses on the album. This track will easily keep its listeners engaged.

The next song on the album ‘slow pace’ really slows the things down (no pun intended) and that pattern continues for the next few songs. It definitely works and causes the instrumentals and lyrics to shine through in these tracks.

The album picks up the pace again on the 8th track titled ‘My Time’. The beat has a bit of a dream-wave feel as they background Synths slide in between Ace Mans lyrics. The solid tracks continue as we make our way to the album closer titled ‘Heavy Price’. This track is definitely the perfect closer to a very solid album! All in all this album has a lot of hits and is packed with passion from Aceman.

Featured Blog Post

The first product that we will go over is the ‘Featured Blog Post’. When an artist orders one of these it is our goal to get as much info as we can about the artist so that we can share it with our readers. It a fun way for them to get to know the artist and their music.

We start off by reaching out to the artist and catering some of our questions to fit them as an artist. In turn, we usually get a ton of info about how they got started as an artist, what inspires them musically and also we get some fun stories about them along the way.

It is very important for us to gather the artists social media and music links as well. That way our readers can give their music a listen while they read or look up all their songs after they learn more about the artists.

The last thing that we gather from the artist is 1-2 images that they would like to share with the world. That way the reader knows exactly who they are reading about and it helps the reader to also get to know the artists style.

Featured Album Review

The second item is the ‘Featured Album Review’. This is mainly for artists that have a new album coming out that they want to promote. Though some artists purchase this to promote a past album that they want to get more exposure for as well.

This process is a little bit different than the featured blog post. The only information that we ask for from the artist is a little background information and their social media links. That way the article is more focused on the artists album rather than themselves as an artist.

Once the artist sends over the links to the album I listen to the album from front to back and review it. I go over the album as a whole, but also break down my favorite tracks on the album as well as what I think are the general standout tracks.

What Does The Finished Product Look Like?

One of our most popular Album Reviews would have to be from the artist Kreative. He is a Hip Hop artist from Chicago and we reviewed his album titled ‘Longanimity’ (See below).

We are very happy to bring to you our Afton artist album review of Longanimity by Kreative. This one we highly recommend to any listener that is looking for some new music to check out!

Artist Background

(Alexander) Kreative Glover is an emcee who speaks the truth through his music. Born in the south suburbs of Chicago Illinois, Kreative always had an ear for music. In the 90’s, he was introduced to Hip-Hop through Shaq’s first album Shaq-Diesel. However, his passion for Hip-Hip was truly developed when he discovered the Wu-Tang Clan. “I heard my uncle playing Wu-Tang’s Enter The 36 Chambers, and I remembered sneaking to listen to that album”. From that point forward, Kreative was hooked on hip hop. Writing rhymes and poetry at an early age, he knew he was gifted. When things got tough in life, music and comics were always an outlet to escape.

Kreative has a very eclectic taste in music. He’s always explored various types to influence and sculpts his rhymes and poetry. Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Linkin Park, Coldplay, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common and Wu-Tang Clan were and remain to be his favorites and iconic lyricists. “Music is about self expression, I feel your music should represent who you are and your real life experiences”. “Thats the truest element of the art. When I write, I think about things I’ve been through, and I always stay true to what I believe”. “Hip Hop has many different components, and I want to focus on the positive, because my city already has a negative image”.

Album: Longanimity

Kreative takes his listeners through such a story with his album longanimity. He is beyond talented with his flow in this 12 track record and remains a strong lyricist through out the entire album.

The album has some pretty great features as well including artist Andrew DeMuro who appears on track number 4 titled ‘Wishin’. The other feature is artist 1ToDial who appears on the 9th track titled “Mumble”.

My stand out tracks from the album are ‘Mumble’, which to me has one of the strongest instrumentals on the whole album. Another would have to be ‘Wishin’ which tells a story and has a fantastic chorus filled with Andrew DeMuro belting over the track. The final stand out being ‘Roses’ which is just a really fun listen.

Big Nic takes listeners on a fun adventure throughout his 13 track album titled ‘19’. The first thing you will notice about the album is the awesome Dragon Ball Z artwork that is a shoutout to the character Android 19. The album is filled with great features including artists like Rahbu, Temor J, PlutoHendrix and Big Nimani.

Some of the standout tracks on the album and my personal favorites are ‘Hey Auntie’ (which has a very catchy chorus) , ‘Go’ and ‘Lazy’.
